Özet: Hukukun teori ve pratiği, sadece kanun metinleri, mahkeme salonları ya da fakülte sıralarında değil; güzel sanatlarda da iz bırakır. Bu nedenle, “yedinci sanat” olarak adlandırılan sinemada da hukuku görmek mümkündür. Bu çalışmada, İtalyan yönetmen Pontecorvo’nun Cezayir Savaşı filmi, analiz edilmektedir. Çalışmanın temel iddiası, yönetmen ve filmin, sömürgeci kodları ifşa ederek şiddete ve ezen-ezilen ilişkisine dikkat çekerken politik sinema bilinci taşıdığıdır.

THE BATTLE OF ALGIERS

Abstract: The theory and practice of law do not only leave a mark on law texts, courtrooms and faculty desks, but also on fine arts. Therefore, it is possible to see law in cinema which is also called “seventh art”. Italian director Pontecorvo’s movie called The Battle of Algiers has been analysed in this paper. The basic argument of this paper is that the director and the movie have consciousness of political cinema by revealing the colonialist codes and pointing out violence and the relationship between oppressor and oppressed.
